Wait what? Ocarina of Time 2D V.20 is going to be released this year? I didn't even realise there were previous versions but as it Turns out Zelda Informer just broke news of a new upcoming version of the fan made Ocarina of Time 2d; stylised to mimic The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. Look no further than Juicy Game Reviews for all of the details along with an awesome game play trailer of Ocarina of Time 2D V.20. Before we dive in to the new details here are some screens from V.20. Doesn't it look awesome?!
Ocarina of Time 2D V.20 will run on PC, Mac and Linux according to one of the developers, Sage. From what I can gather previous versions of the game are not currently available to download from the Official website. It seems like this project has been in development for the last eighteen months. Ocarina of Time 2D first got a release on July 18th 2014 so there's plenty of gameplay banded about on Youtube as you can imagine. The upcoming version offers a whole heap of new gameplay features like Better Deku Tree interior. For a full list of new features click here. What's interesting about Ocarina of Time 2D is that it's being built from the ground up as stated by the development team:
This embodiment of OoT 2D will use no already-existing engine and no utilities such as Game Maker. While building it from scratch is slow and old-fashioned, this method of programming will grant full control over everything, resulting in a high-quality product! We hope you all like it!
If this news is as fresh to you as it is to me then get ready for this. Below is the new trailer for Ocarina of Time 2D V.20 along with the release window. Naturally, the developers are in no way affiliated with Nintendo so let's hope this project continues before Nintendo attack it.
Also, be sure to check out the guys over at Zeldathon.net as they stream Zelda games for Charity. The guys who are developing Ocarina of Time 2D support this project so let's give a little back. #GamersUnite
