After approximately one week of speculation; Konami finally broke their silence to end the rumour mill surrounding the Silent Hills cancellation. Originally Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro were pegged to be the perfect duo to deliver the next game in the Silent Hill series. The P.T demo shocked and surprised fans on 12th August 2014 as it appeared on the Sony Store with no prior warning. The buzz amongst the gaming community ignited and fans were once again poised and ready for the next slice of horror from the Hills.
In a statement reported to Polygon today Konami said: "Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hillsproject developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued,"
Konami's official statement came after the hint had been dropped by Del Toro at a film festival in San Francisco over the weekend. It was reported that Del Toro had claimed "it's not going to happen" when discussing Silent Hills with an attendee.
When the clock strikes 23:59 on April 30th 2015 the P.T demo will have one more minute of shelf life on the Playstation store so you'd better be quick to download it. As for the future of Silent Hills, who knows. Hopefully we'll see another game in the series. Hideo Kojima is a legend and long may his genius continue.

Sad, very sad. PT demo excited everyone for what Silent Hills could be. Myself included.

The P.T demo was quite the teaser Mark. Do you ever think the project will be revived?
