There’s no doubt in my mind that The Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great game. Crystal Dynamics produced an epic adventure, this is true. I’ve read and watched numerous reviews that ranked the new Lara Croft adventure as an eight and in some cases nine out of ten and I’ve been left wondering why? Before you read any further, know that I, like many of you, was a teenager when the first Tomb Raider game got a release on the Sega Saturn and Playstation 1 and one thing is very, very clear to me: Tomb Raider is one of the most evolved series on the market. The Rise of the Tomb Raider seems nothing like the very first Tomb Raider game. I can hear many of you say “of course it’s not” and especially since the franchise was sold to Crystal Dynamics years ago. They’ll always be a part of me that wants that Tomb Raider game back but the rational part of me knows that Tomb Raider is forever changed and it’s a new generation of gamers sat behind their controllers meandering through the Tombs.

Fallout 4 dropped two days ago. We're already seeing news of glitches, mods, reviews, moans, rants and personal journeys from the Wasteland. It's amazing how much information can circulate in two days. Fortunately, most of the Fallout 4 news is positive and crawling the wasteland is once again, an awesome experience.
I went to a midnight launch of Fallout 4 at GAME in Chesterfield, England. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Pipboy Edition on the Playstation 4 too. Here are all of the pictures from the evening as well as the video. Drop me a comment and let me know some of your tales from the Wasteland. My full review will be up in the coming weeks! The most common question I'm being asked on my Assassin's Creed Syndicate Twitch streams is: "What is the game like?" I give a nuts and bolts answer that skirts around outer barriers of my in-depth feelings. After all, it can be quite difficult to talk with an exceeding level of depth whilst concentrating while playing. That leaves me with the perfect opportunity to open up in this blog about some of my intricate thoughts of Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
Developed by Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Syndicate joins a confusing series that left my head spinning after Assassin's Creed 3. Syndicate is the ninth game in the main series since 2007. That's an average of over one game every 12 months which is quite staggering considering we have to wait a lot longer for sequels of alternate triple A titles. This is where the whole series falls down for me. There's quantity over quality. That's not to say the likes of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Rogue or any of the other titles aren't good but I've always noticed a lack of polish amidst the race to get the game to market. Assassin's Creed Unity was far from finished as I'm certain we can all recall the technical glitches from launch? I believe this was a the lowest point in the series; needless to say that Syndicate really pulls the series back to greatness. Greatness is a bold word when discussing a game so I use it lightly but in the case of Assassin's Creed's credentials vastly improved gameplay mechanics, less glitches and the new twist of interchangeable characters (Evie and Jacob) really ramps up the overall experience.

It is fair to say that I was truly hyped for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood which we know is the prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order. I enjoy nothing more than roaming around the first person shooter gaming world armed with a full arsenal of deadly weapons. Wolfenstein, as a series, has long been a key part of the first person shooter back bone until now. That very same back bone paved the way for the Doom franchise to explode on to shareware in 1993 and later storming millions of consoles around the world. So why am I writing this? Why have do I feel that Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is my hugest let down of the year to date?
William Blazkowicz is the hero and it's 1946 and we are about to storm Castle Wolfenstein. Yes, this is it. I felt that Machine Games did a poor job at threading the story together to create the cohesive flow I expected. Character's in The Old Blood felt flat and mechanical. Literally mechanical! The lack of human NPC's led me to feel that the story had been sacrificed at the expense of action (and not the fast paced kind of action I wanted). Compare this to Wolfenstein: The New Order. I wrote a short review on The New Order and commented at how good the storytelling was:

Finally! After years of waiting Fallout 4 was confirmed to be in existence by Bethesda today and will launch on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. As of yet no release date has been announced which still leaves Fallout 4 shrouded in a thin layer mystery. Let's hope Fallout 4 will be on the shelves this year. The Fallout 4 cinematic trailer is now live for the world to see but when will we get to see some gameplay from the Wasteland? Bethesda confirmed that fans will be showed the world premiere of Fallout 4 gameplay at E3 this year. Excited yet?

Fallout 4 is a game I've been craving since I saw the closing scenes of Fallout 3. Nope this is obviously not a review but more like a pre, preview of the newly teased Fallout 4 by Bethesda. Earlier today, Bethesda Tweeted a link to a countdown screen. It doesn't take a genius to decipher that the art style of the countdown screen is reminiscent of the Fallout series. As I write this the clock has sixteen hours and forty seven minutes to go until the big reveal. That means the exact time of the reveal in the UK will be 3pm, 7am Pacific time and 10am Eastern. I'll be one of millions of excited gamers waiting for the news to drop or rather; for the Fallout 4 cinematic trailer to drop. That's my prediction which is weighted by the LinkedIn profile of Luis Nieves. Luis is a Freelance 3D artist that mistakenly added Fallout 4 Cinematic Trailer to his portfolio, thus evidencing that he'd worked on it. Now my excitement is rising! What's even more intriguing the cinematic trailer was allegedly made by Guillermo del Toro's studio.
So all we have to do now is wait to see the news on Fallout 4. 2015 marks Bethesda's first year at E3. Will it be a good one? Will Fallout 4 live up to the hype? One thing is clear here. Tomorrow at 3pm GMT I will be standing by with bated breath waiting to see what awaits within Bethesda's next RPG. Are you pumped too?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Skyrim are both fantastic Role Playing Games with vast expansive open worlds to explore. Despite deriving within the same genre The Witcher 3 and Skyrim feel different on so many levels. The obvious differences are that Skyrim is almost 4 years older than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Bethesda and CD Projekt RED are clearly different developers. I want to break this down and try to and dissect my experiences between Skyrim and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In terms of time, Skyrim has the edge as I have put over seventy hours in to it whereas I’m just over twelve hours in to The Witcher 3. Does this mean I am going to be bias? No not at all. I have the upmost admiration for both of these games and I feel it’s important to embrace the differences as well as similarities…

As a fan of anything Zombie related I was full of hope for Dying Light; a survival horror game developed by Techland and casually fucked up by Warner Bros in publishing the physical copies here in Europe. A month after the digital release (and hard copy release in North America) I finally got my copy. I could talk all day about how cool the free running mechanics of Dying Light feel or how quarantined city of Harran looks bizarrely beautiful but I'm not. Dying made me feel numerous things as I played through the campaign. Here are my most prominent thoughts of Dying Light.
